Internet Network - Understanding Internet Network

Internet Network - Understanding Internet Network. Technology is growing rapidly so there is a slogan that says "Gemgaman World in Your Hands", one of the truly phenomenal adalahInternet technology, a network that is so complex but it was amazing then we call Internet Network. The Internet is a computer network that can be categorized as WAN, connecting millions of computers around the world, without borders, where every person who has a computer can join the network by simply connecting to the internet service provider (Internet service provider / ISP) such as Telkom Speedy , or IndosatNet. Internet can be translated as the international networking (international network), for connecting computers internationally, or as internetworking (network between networks) for networks connecting millions throughout the world.

Internet began when the United States Department of Defense (Department of Defense, USA) to build a computer network in 1969, which was named ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) in order to connect multiple computers that are in some universities doing military research, especially to build a network computer communications are able to withstand a nuclear attack. This network continues to grow, more and more computers are involved, and the research side of software development is also growing. In May of 1974, Vinton G.Cerf from Stanford University and Robert E.Kahn of the Department of Defense USA, published a paper in IEEE Transaction on Communication entitled "A Protocol for Packet Network intercommunication", this concept was popular as a TCP / IP , when the ARPANET protocols adopt a standard protocol for the ARPANET in 1983. The university, especially the University of California at Berkeley and then build the operating system Unix Berkeley Software Distribution) or BSD UNIX (known as the Free BSD Unix) and the Department of Defense finance Bolt Baranek and Newman (BBN) for clicking-implementation of TCP / IP in the BSD Unix to be applied on the ARPANET, the forerunner of the internet thus formed.

At the end of 1983, the ARPANET was divided into DARPANET (Defense ARPANET) and MILNET (Military Network). In 1985 the network was formed NFSNET (National Science Foundation Network) to connect existing supercomputer in various universities in the U.S. and connected to ARPANET. NSFNET network continuously developed by university researchers. In 1988 the Internet backbone network capacity is only 56 Kbps. Although in 1990 the ARPANET officially closed, but the network passed on the internet that have been formed by the university in the United States and entering the university network in the Americas (Canada and South America) and network in Europe to be part of the internet. In 1992 the network backbone upgraded to T3 with a speed of 45 Mbps, and around 1995 increased again to OC-3 at a speed of 155 Mbps. Now a high-speed internet backbone in order Gbps.

Internet topology is basically a mesh topology, linking many types of network through packet-switching system, if it can be said that the center of it is a NAP (Network Access Point) in San Francisco (Pacific Bell), in Chicago (Ameritech) , New Jersey (Sprint), and Merit Access Exchange (MAE) at San Francisco (MAE West) and Washington, DC (MAE East) are handled by MFS Datanet.

Although there is no organization that has internet, but there are many organizations that maintain these networks through the establishment of standardized protocols, rules, and methods of access. Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to handle technical issues that arise on the internet, such as problems with the protocol, architecture and Internet operation. Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) deal with technical research, such as addressing and other engineering systems. Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) controls the distribution of IP addresses (IP #) to various countries and organizations. Internet Society (ISOC) to handle administrative issues and organizational structure of the internet.

Commercial business entity then provides access to services by providing a connection from the user's computer to the Internet, and the body is referred to as the Internet access provider or ISP. Some well-known ISP in the world is America On Line (AOL), Australia OnLine, CompuServe, Genie, and Prodigy. In Indonesia there TelkomNet, IndosatNet, Wasantara Net, Internux, and so on. ISP providing dial-up connection through a modem-telephone, wireless connection through WLAN antenna, or ADSL connection over the phone. Connection protocol used is SLIP (Serial Line Interface Protocol) or PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol), which SLIP connection is usually slower than PPP.

Internet network logically divided into multiple domains, which by the standards of IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) is identified by IP number or 4 32-bit binary numbers separated by periods (such as 192.168.10.25). Standard domain types include:

. Com = commercial organizations
. Edu = educational institutions in America
. Ac = academic institutions
. Gov = government institutions
. Mile = military organization
. = Net access provider network
. Org = non-profit organizations

Besides domain is also divided by country, for example:

. Au = Australia
. Ca = Canada
. Id = Indonesia
. Jp = Japan
. My = Malaysia
. Sw = Sweden
. Th = Thailand
